Hello everyone!
I recently bought a 2003 Monte Carlo LS and within a month the gasket was leaking. I heard that these models are prone to doing this.
I brought it back to the dealer and they engine swapped it. I am curious as to where can i find the date of the engine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It was a head gasket and there was oil leaking to engine too.
Do they put a vin number of the donor car when they make the engine?
When they put the new engine in it had 45,000 miles compared to the 75,000 my car had when i bought it. I am wondering if it is a newer engine with the lesser mileage.

More than likely doesn't matter what year the engine was made, they would have put in the same exact type of engine otherwise it would have trouble running correctly with your ECU.
I'd just be happy with the lower miles!
