hi.my e-break is good meaning cable and all....but sometimes when i park on a hill or something i like to use the e-break....my problem is how to ajust so its a firmer on the foot to tight the car from rolling after using the e-break..........it feels soft sometimes it holds the car and others it dont do the job..........can anyone help me how to ajust the e-break please?

For whatever mechanical reason, cars allways roll backwards easier with the 3-brake fully activiated.

Your car may still roll backwards when you are parked uphill no matter how tight you make them that is why you turn your wheels out.

 

im sure it rools a little .but mines rools like no ebreak is applied......and other times it fells like its applied......the car will rool just a bit when i feel it on....other times nothing

 

do u have rear drums or rear rotors?

 

What I would do is set the E-parking brake down, then put the car in park. It shouldn't move, or roll back if you do that. Then when you want to leave, set the car in drive, then release the e-brake.

 

scc24540i got rotors on back.....................and montecarlomike81i do that all the time........i dont know to me it just feels like it needs to be ajusted.....

 

you can adjust the ebrake at the rear rotor where its attached. also you can adjust the cable itself where the ebrake pedal is. i know this trick works on drums dunno about rotors so if im wrong someone let me know. go fast in reverse and hit the ebrake, that might tighten it up also

 

beliv eon ours it wont work you have to tighten the cabel up some but you really need to do the disk it's self or you could over tighten the cabel and have it snap on you and you would not know how tight to get it with out the cabel being activated.

 

I believe the e brake shoes are in the drum part of the back rotor. They do wear out just from driving. There is a star wheel inside but you have to take off the rotor.
Never did a Monte but I did a chevy SUV if it is the same?

My 02 LS had the same problem I just never got to adjusting it. The e-brake just didnt hold the car up.
