DexCool Question

RE: DexCool Question
Not sure on the years, but I think 3 years ago. Truck is just 7 years old. Purchased new summer of '00, but it was 1 yr old then, almost 2 years old. Not sure of the build date. That would be 5 or 6 year old fluid.

The only problem I've ever had with mine is all the brown **** deposits in the reservoir...
Wondering if it would be easy just to pull that and spray it out.

Looks like rust, but it's just DexCool crud.

RE: DexCool Question
When I replaced the LIM gasket on my montanas 3400, it looked like the gasket had failed because it was made too thin. The fel-pro gasket I replaced it with looked almost 1/2 a mm thicker..

RE: DexCool Question
yea, i only trust dex-cool in my chevys. and for that deposited brown stuff......last fall i flushed the radiator in my 99 jimmy 4.3 and that stuff came right out of the resevoir, cleaned up real nice. gm says to only put dexcool in there radiators. once a buddy put something else in his gm and it gunked up within a couple months. im sure just some fluid not being dexcool wouldnt hurt (as if your topping it off), but not a whole fluids change. ive never had a problem with the cooling system, stayes right where it should. but i maintain the vehicle well, also. i dont think ill try throwin dexcool in my older ranger tho.

RE: DexCool Question
Some anti-freeze brands are compatable with both, I think Prestone has one. I only use Dex-cool.
