Default couple problems with my monte carlo

Hey everyone I've had my 2000 monte carlo ss for a little over 2 years it has about 83000 miles on it and a couple days ago it started acting up and I just wanted to get a little input on it. A couple times when I go to start it usually in the morning before work and after work when its been sitting for a while, when I turn the key there is no noise at all no click nothing, unless i keep the key turned it will after a second or so it will fire up like normal or if I let the key sit in the on position for a couple seconds it will fire up. I was thinking it was the starter but not sure also about a month ago i changed the ignition switch and lock cylinder so I don't think that it is the ignition switch again. Also starting this morning when i started it up the service traction system light came on with the trac off and abs lights on, I've read on here that that is usually the sensors on the hubs going bad I just wanted to verify. Any input is appreciated thank you.

The not starting is probably your starter, mine did the same thing when it went.

Our cars are notorious for wheel bearings and that is more than likely your problem. Get the codes read and it will tell you which bearing is causing the lights to go off. Don't cheap out on the bearing or you will be replacing it again in about a year lol. It could also be the wiring coming out of the sensor on the bearing as it runs up and they tend to rot out, so give it a good visual before replacing the bearing just in case.

Both my cars did what you describe as your starting problem when the batteries went out. batterys check good electrically and so did the alternator. it was during start that the battery voltage jumped and dragged down. it was just enough to cause the car not to start. Would check battery and start system with a meter. Easy check.
As for the abs problem mine did the same thing when the wheel bearing went out. Happened in the winter did everything to try and seal the plug to make sure contamination wasn't getting inside as the wheel bearing had no play. Hooked up to scanner and got a ton of codes. Finally in the maintenance manual I found a resistance check for the hub. so I spun the hub and compared to the other wheel and the resistance was out of range. So I ended up changing both rear wheel bearing assys.
