Compass

well I read a few other threads about it,but im in same region and my compass keeps screwing up...is there a sensor you can change?

You may have to set the compass for a specific zone and re-calibrate. BBEngineer posted the steps from the shop book in the troubleshooting section at the bottom of this page:
Impala DIC Retrofit

I have done that but it goes out on its own,how many times do you have to calibrate it?

The_Maniac 06-10-2015 06:31 PM

Did you verify your zone before you calibrated? That will play some role in to it.

My Monte did not come with a DIC, so when I added it, I verified the region/zone, then had to calibrate it and it was a 1 and done process (prior to that, it would not read correctly at all). And it did not take long to calibrate, drive in a circle under 5 mph and by the time I finished circle #1, it was done.

yea mass, its still the same unless the world changed

The_Maniac 06-10-2015 10:44 PM

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if perhaps the DIC reset the region on you. If not, maybe the electronics are just going bad.

yea its working today,go figure..

what do you replace if its bad?

The_Maniac 07-23-2015 09:59 PM

On cars with a sunroof, I believe the compass module is a small board by itself for the DIC. For cars with no sunroof, all contained in the DIC.

Best bet, just replace the DIC if you want to see if that is the source of the issue.
