clunking noise

Default clunking noise

Hi I have an 02 ss and there seems to be one clunking noise coming from my steering colum..any ideas?

Intermediate Steering Shaft needs grease.

It is definitely your ISS.

I oil my ISS every spring.

Wow thanks for the tip...this one shop wanted 580 to install a new one...so 20min n done huh. Sounds good to me. But get this the stock iss lasted 210,000miles pretty good eh?

So how do I get the grease in it..down behind the black thing or in that **** of it the one sticking out?

Down where the tube is going. Mind you most people use lithium grease & spray it down there. I used a grease gun & synthetic grease.

The grease is thicker & takes longer to get down in there but the flip side is I won't have to get in there for a long time to maintain it.

So that web page that you sent earlier in the thread was for impalas right...its the same procedure for the mc?
