Where are you dripping oil?

When you say fluctuates, when you start the car and it is idling, does it sit almost half way and stay that way?

The pressure WILL RISE and WILL FALL as you drive and move mostly with the gas pedal. That is normal. But it shouldn't ever fall below 1/4 on the gauge (should stay more towards half though)

when i am driving the gage reads between 1/2 and 3/4 on the display
when i am sitting at a stop sign it reads a 1/4 below 1/2. also the drips are coming from from the bottom of the oil pan. the oil was just change because when i bought the car i check the oil dip stick and it was about a qt. over filled.

If it is over-filled you can remove some until you are at a good amount.

Your Pressure sounds perfect.

Small drips around the oil pan could be the oil pan gasket. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn't get worse, and just keep an eye on your oil levels. To replace that gasket can be quite costly because I believe you have to drop the frame.

Hesitation could be a lot of things. A tune-up should be on your list of things to do (Please ACDelco plugs and wires only), but you should also clean the MAF sensor, and get the catalytic tested, in 2000 and 2001 there were bad batches and they can cause a lot of problems such as hesitation and some people even misdiagnose it as a bad Transmission.

Any shop should be able to do a back-pressure test.
