Question car wont start

i have a buddy with a 2002 Monte Carlo SS 20k, its his baby. he told me of some troubles he was having earlier this spring with the car staling. my 05 Monte was doing the same thing. i told him to replace the ICM; that fixed my problems. he did that and now the car wont even turn over. his brother suggested putting a PCM in, he did that; didn't help. he has gone threw the security reset procedure a hundred times by his accounts. can any one shed some light on this for me? bad BCM maybe? i would really like to help him out sense hes currently doing some emergency bathroom renovations in my trailer for me.

p.s. < lol
the battery was dead for some time before he replaced the ICM

Do any lights come on or flash while trying to start the car?

The security light flashing is a sign that there is either a problem with the vehicle anti theft system, or the ignition switch.

Possibly his passlock system has locked him out. Which he'll need to take it to a dealership and have a new ignition switch put in and new keys tumbled (so he doesn't have a different key for the ignition and the doors)

Just search the terms Passlock and you should find all the information you need.

i would listen to chibiblacksheep (lol) if all the tights are coming on but the car just doesnt turn over, and your battery is good, no electric problems, (honestly suggesting the icm to be replaced because of a hesitant engine is a pretty big waist of money if that isnt where the problem lies) i would have had him check his fuel filter first thing,........(process of elim. should be done cheepest to most expensive) and also you can take your icm down to autozone and they wil test it for free,,.... aint that some shhhhhhhhheep. anyways new passkey is like 50 bucks, car wont start without it.

If he replaced the ICM, whatever that is, and now the car won't turn over then the first thing I'd do is put the old ICM back in and see what happens.

Does he have an aftermarket stereo in the car? Did he relocate his factory deck?
