Default Can't get coolant up to temp.

So i have this problem last year, i just put a piece of carboard infront of the rad for the winter and told myself i would deal with this in the summer... Well the "warm" season was so fricken busy that it totally forgot about that problem (as it has no problem getting up to temp is the summer)

The temp gauge wont go passed the first 1/4...

What may cause this? Im planning on draining my cooling system completely next week-end and change my T-Stat.. AGAIN..

Anything else i could do to check, or fix this problem? its quite a pain in the A** for those 4hour drives at 70-80mph to the mountains

Definitely sounds like a stuck open t-stat. Change the T-stat, and flush your cooling system while your at it, you should be up and running at regular operating temp!

IDK about the t-stat on the 3400's but I know on the 3500 and 3800's its easy. You just take out two bolts, and pop out the old one, and put in a new one. They have rubber gaskets, which the new one will come with. So there is not scrapping gaskets or anything like that.

What product/brand would you guys suggest for the flush?

or are they all fairly the same?

I have always used the Prestone flush. It seams to work pretty well for me, and just about every store carries it.

If it was me, I would flush out ALL the Dex-Cool, and replace it with Prestone All Make, ALL Model.!
