Default Can you hear your brakes?

When braking pretty hard, like coming down an offramp from the interstate, I can hear the brakes pretty loud. The sound is pretty hard to explain, it's not a grinding or squealing sound, but like a very hard rubbing sound...I think it's normal, but I have never had a vehicle where I could here the brakes working so much. Does anyone else experience this?

Could it be your wheel bearings going bad, so that when you're slowing down, you're hearing the friction as the pressure increases on them as you're braking?

Is it just when your braking? Or is is like when you swerve can you hear a rubbing and feel a little vibration/rubbing in the steering wheel? If so, that is what I had and it was a wheel bearing. I just replaced the wheel hub, and now its fine.

It could that the pads are starting to crystalize (getting hard). If the brake have gotten hot at one time or another
this causes them to do that.
Check the brake calipers to make sure that they are not sticking.

Yes, it is strictly when braking, not when turning or anything. And like I said, only when braking pretty hard. I have to get the car in soon to get the remote problem fixed, I willl have them take a look at it then, thanks for the responses.
