Default Brake + Trac Off Lights

Okay, so this morning I was driving to the train, and I took a different route and I had to go up a hill and there was a bump and after I went up and hit a bump my Trac Off and BRAKE lights came on.

Now I know when the red BRAKE light pops on, it's usually because of 2 things, fluid levels or your e.brake is engaged. Obviously my ebrake isn't engaged, so it should be the fluid right?

But would the fluid also set off my traction control? I never had any fluid issues yet so I'm hoping that my fluid just kind of swished around and set off the sensor, but when I did a shut off and turn on (within a minute) the lights stayed on. I had to make my train so I couldn't check the fluid thoroughly. I tried to look at the side of the reservoir but it's a little dirty and hard to read.

If I pop the cover off I should be able to tell all about my liquid right? Warm or cold check?

Not a good week for me and my car

This same thing happened to my GF's Cavalier. A wire going to one of the sensors by her wheel tore/came loose.

Well I was thinking if it was a wheel sensor wouldn't that also throw my ABS light? But since my ABS light wasn't thrown at the same time I'm a little stumped.

It's good, I just need people to toss around some ideas with me while I'm at work. I know the first thing I'm gonna do is start the car and see if the light is still on, then check my brake fluid when I get off the train

If everything appears OK, fluid levels and such maybe something just got knocked loose. Remove the negative battery cable for a few minutes and reattach so it clears and then see if it comes back. You'll know there's definitely something wrong then.

That's a good idea, I always forget about code clearing with the negative battery :P

Brake fluid and everything seemed fine.

As I was driving home from the train to take the neg. terminal off the lights went out and stayed out. WOO

Just a fluke I suppose.
