Blower moter 1996 Monte Z-34
Wifes 96 Monte Carlo Z-34's blower speeds are screwed up. Only one speed and no #4, unless on Max air, then seems fine. YES, I'm a noob, but fairly mech inclined. Can I fix this myself, yes I tried to search, but to no avail.

yah the blower motor resister is a common part on chevy's, well anything older than a 2000, you dont see it happen too much on the newer vehicles yet...its just a plug in thing like a relay so yes it is something you can do yourself....i can't remember off hand where it is, i will check on monday for you...but someone may have already said by then

As a former Grand Am GT owner (1999 model), I can tell you that the blower motor resistor is not just a Chevy thing. 1999-2005 model Grand Am's have this problem big time. Fan speeds 1 and 2 are controlled by the same resistor. In the 8 years I owned the G.A. I had to replace the resistor 4 times. Other GA owners on GA forums have similar experiences. Hopefully, your wife's Monte Carlo won't give you the same problem we had on the GA's.

here's what it looks like anyway...not 100% sure where it goes yet though... looks like this one would be somewhere near the blower motor intself
