Default Best place to buy a new key fob?

We just got an '03 Monte SS, but it only came with 1 key fob. I'm looking to get another, and possibly replace this one. Where is the best place to buy these?

Take the original one with you to the dealer....along with the vin#.
The dealer will take care of it from there...they should have one.

Default Replacement Key Fob

Hey...would that be any chevy dealer that can perform that option for the key fobs?

On a related question - Is there anyway possible to get new keys from GM for my 02 Monte SS?

I bought the car and it only came with one key and one key fob. The one key I have is a "copy" like you'd get from Home Depot. Is there any possibility of getting an "original" key from a chevy dealer? Or am I stuck with the Axxess+ copy?

You can either take in the copy to your local GM dealer and they can cut you a key on a genuine GM key blank or you can take in 2 documents of ownership(registration, title, insurance car, ect.) and they will cut you a key by vin on a genuine GM key. Mind you most places will have an additional charge for cutting a key by VIN.

I was surprised when the recommendation for a new remote was go to the stealership. The other forum I go to advises against going to a dealer at all cost, and some of them work at dealerships!

I asked advice because when I did a search I found a couple of companies selling new and used key fobs. The company I went with was keyless-remotes dot-com. It was $55 shipped, and came with programming directions. Just note if you do this yourself have all the remotes with you, this will erase all of them until you re-program them.

Even had a bit of trouble with them. The first one they sent got lost in the mail. I even had the tracking information, but the package never moved. I called and they sent a new one out immediately. Got it in a couple days. Then of course the original started moving and I received that one 3 days later. I refused delivery as they requested.

I wanted to let everyone know there are options.

I got my replacement FOB from iKeyless. Just match the number on the back of your original FOB.
