The joys of a CAI lol

As for the battery, I'm glad to hear you got it out and replaced with no problems at all. Some things are easy, but it does help to just talk about it before you do it, pick up some tips.

The battery isn't accessed all time to be replaced, so no need to make it easy to get to :P
Damn you! I have to go through all sorts of trials and tribulations to get that damn thing out, and then back in. But it's all good, not liks it's brain surgery or something.

I agree, it is definitely better to talk about something before getting started for the exact reason you gave.

When you have the stock air box, it is actually really easy to change the filter is you loosen the hose clams on the rubber boot, and remove the rubber boot...then the face of the air box comes of EASY!

im guessing the car wont start if the battery is dead but i would get a jumpstart and drive the car to autozone or wateva and they would replace the battery right there on the spot for ya FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

They won't for a Monte, it's not a 5-minute procedure for them. Their computer will tell them it's a 30 minute job and they will say no. They only do it if it's a simple drop in put the plugs on and done.

i know i use to work for pepboy's they charge an hour worth of work on serten monte's. also for the intrepeds and sebrings because of the locations of the batteries.my advice is optima batteries have three in vehicles all 4 to 5 yrs old and still running strong. because our cars make a beatting every time we run them i.e. all the electronics do take a toll on a battery. agm types are desined for them. i.e. military use them thats where the technology came from. im getting one when mine goes

I hope you got a maintenance free battery.

In my 95 the battery is installed under the windshield washer tank and the brace. It is the result of shrinking car size and added accessories. Take a look at a 70's model under the hood and compair the two.

Nope.

10mm to remove 3 bolts holding the black bar/brace
Pliers to remove the tiny upper radiator hose
5/16" wrench to remove the oem lugs from the battery
10mm to remove the nut from the battery tie down block

tilt battery and remove it, put new one in and reverse the process above

Piece of cake!

Everytime I go to clean my K&N drop in filter, the stock airbox likes to try and chew off my hand because of that stupid rubber boot. Next year I want to get that CAI off my wish list, and onto the car.
