Another HID Question - DRL, Auto lights
Hey guys it’s been a while, I’ve been concentrating a bit more on my R6S, but I’m back to the Monte for a bit.
Have a simple question about HID’s
What's the deal with killing the auto headlight system with HID’s; it disables it? Does it also kill the DRL? I’m neither for, nor against DRL so it does matter to me if I have to disable them or not.
Anyone care to school me on this?

This is the kit I'm looking into...
How can I go about does this? In all the years I've owned this car, this is the first time looking into HID's...lol Never cared for them before - things change. : ))
I've read that I could pull the fuse but that also disables the auto lights, I like the auto lights and would like to retain functionality, but disable the DRL.

Is that an option? Could I simply run the HID off high beam, rather than low?
I was just going to do the low initially, not really a need for a high with HID (at least that is my feeling).
Let me know your thoughts.
Damn, I feel like such a noob.

That would be awesome!!! However, I've read conflicting reports on this; not to question you, but are you sure??? : )) (maybe the discussion was regarding a newer model).
I guess I could get my lazy butt up and check..
Thanks for the help
Cheers.

In all 6th gens the DRLs are the high beams at half power. If you do lows only you don't have to worry about it. In later years you can bend a pin in the fuse panel to disable DRLs only but that's 2005 only I think. You could just take the sensor out and put tape on it then put it back in the bubble in the dash, then your lows would always come on. But most people with HIDs say they never use their highs after anyways.

I'm going with 5000k though. Thumbs up!
