Default ADDITIVES

I work at a Chevy dealer and they have decided to implement an additive program with BG additives. They claim their products will remove carbon deposits from valves and combustion chambers..ie BG44K. They have additives for power strg., cooling system flush,
trans flush, even 4X4 front diff. I do not trust these products. My owners manual in my 05 s/c says do not add anything to the oil or fuel. Who is right?[sm=bicker.gif]

IMHO, additives of this nature will only extend the life of your car and keep it out of the shop. A couple of months after I picked up my 03 I took it back to the dealer for a rough idle problem, they cleaned the injectors and the problem went away. After quite a bit of talking to others that had similar problems and some product research I started using Sea Foam monthly as a fuel additive and have never had another issue with my fuel system. The shop I use also adds additives when they perform trans flushes that help extend the life of things.

So do you suggest using additives from the start on a new car or wait for it to get some miles on it?

I don't want to "gunk" it up with unnecessary products that do nothing but take your money.

The earlier the better I would say, it may have saved me from trip to the dealer in my opinion. I would research the products your interested in though cause some of it is just plain crap.

I've been happy with Sea Foam to keep the fuel system clean so far. I'll check with my shop to see what they use in the trans and other areas.

Twilight Zone (AutoZone) is your best bet for Seafoam.

I've never tried Outlaw... Did it make a noticeable difference?

I'll have to give it a whirl.

we use sea foam in our trannys at work and that stuff works awesome. it lubes and cleans the valve body and you add it right to the trans without removing fluid. great stuff.
