Default 96 with idle issues

I have a 96 Monte, once it warms up and I use the rear defrost the idle starts running so low it wants to stall. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm not sure if it is an electrical issue or an idle control issue. It seems to run fine otherwise. Thanks for your help in advance!

It sounds like a simple electrical issue....

Whens the last time you had the battery/alternator checked?
I would start there!
The battery just maybe strong enough to support the vehicle running under normal conditions... Once you turn on the rear defroster... It taxes the charging system thus causing the rough idle/stahl condition. It takes a bit of extra juice to not only run the defroster but also the added length of wiring running to the rear of the vehicle ads added resistance thus causeing it to pull extra voltage/power to operate it.

Hope this helps!
I'm sure someone else will chime in with more ideas!
Please be sure to let us know what it was that fixed the problem.

This is my sons car, so after driving it, I found it has nothing to do with the defroster, it does it all of the time once it has warmed up and drops down from high idle. Could this be just a adjustment of the idle speed or could there be an underlying issue?

Low idle could be lots of things. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, sensors, could even be the IAC or a vacuum leak.
