Default 950$ for A/c job?

I called into Midas and they said for an Ac job it would be 950$ which includes labor, parts, and freon. Is that too high?

Depends on the job?

Are they replacing a compressor, condenser, lines, an o-ring. Are they just servicing the system. Why do you need the work done? Are they 100% positive what the problem is... etc.

My compressor is going out and the guy said they would buy a new Ac compressor with the pieces that come with it.

Thats about right. Parts costs will vary depending on what compressor he buys (OEM or aftermarket). I've heard of people paying between 800 to 1400 for that repair, the latter being repaired by an actual dealership.

Pretty high, if you are comfortable doing the work yourself you could have a shop empty your freon, change the compressor yourself, and then have a shop fill it back up for probably less than half that price.

Closed systems... if it's a freon issue, then it's a bigger problem.
