About two months ago I replaced the fuel pump in my 2007 3.5 LS. I used an aftermarket Airtex pump (because it was cheaper). The past month or so my car has been running what feels like a little lean and a about a week ago wouldn't start (had the primary fuel pump circuit failure code). I chalked that up to it grounding out after I got my car washed. Today it barley turned over and is sluggish to accelerate. Does anyone have any experience with this, I assume Ill have to change the fuel pump again (OEM this time, fool me once) but if there is anything else I can do before dropping my tank again I'd like to give that a try.

 

Airtex is absolute garbage. My brother bought one for his Jeep, one month later he had to replace it.

Kinda surprised there's no fuel pump access hatch in the trunk though. Check your fuel pressure just to be sure.

 

This surprises me too, why would they remove a feature from the car?

 

Yeah it's a pain but I assume most people send it to a dealer to get it done. The spot in the trunk looks identical to the one in the '06 except not cut out.

 

So bust out a dremel and make a hatch like the F-Body guys do

 

Trust me I've thought about it, if I had a way of doing it without setting my car ( or myself for that matter) on fire I would do it in a heartbeat.

 

Busting out the dremel is where it's at.

Drop the tank one last time, move it, cover up anywhere there may be gas and dremel it out. Add a Grand Prix hatch and some RTV ftw.
