Default 2006 Monte Carlo SS where is the oil pressure sender?

Hi,

I have a problem with the oil pressure sender sending out intermittent messages. They come and go by themselves, mostly when the car is hot (temperature gauge is in the middle). I would like to find the oil pressure sender unit, both to check the wiring and possibly, if the wiring is fine, replace the actual sender. The car runs fine, it has nothing in the oil (did an oil change last week along with filter, no shavings in the oil). Car has 197K Km (120K-130K miles). I had a similar problem on a Dodge Mirada, and the sensor was the problem in that case, and the symptoms appear similar.

I have the Haynes manual for this car, but it doesn't show anything. I would like to get the factory service manual, but don't have the $400 it would take to get it.

I believe the 3.5 is based off the block used in the 3.4. If that holds true, on the 3.4 the oil pressure sensor is in the front of the engine, just off center (towards the driver side of the car) and under the exhaust manifold.Easy to get to, but you don't have great visibility of it unless you are under the car. It will also require a special socket made specifically for the oil pressure sensor. I hope this helps you out.

Hi,

Sorry to mislead you and the rest of the members of the board. The car is a Monte Carlo SS, 5.3L V8. I mis-typed the model, and I cannot figure out how to change the title to read Monte Carls SS.

Ohara, thanks, that is perfect. I was getting confused when doing searches, some said it was up on the top of the engine, like in this video. Others said it was down near the oil filter, hence my confusion.
