Default 2006 LTZ problems

hi everyone, im looking at a 2006 LTZ, 3.9, 64000 miles, very good shape car, the price is very good and the guy let me drive it today...all day...started noticing the heat not putting out hot air at idle but returns at increased rpms...looked under the hood and found that the pulleys and belt have a little coolant on them just kind of spattering off here and there while running....coolant was low, could not find any real head gasket leak but didnt look too hard, i took it back to the guy and he said he would get it checked tomorow but i was wondering what yall thought about it, and whether or not this guy might try to stick it to me....thanks for all your help

cw

ps ..great looking and running car hopefully it will work out

If you see anti freeze on the pulleys then i would think that maybe it has a water pump problem.
Have the cooling system checked. It will not put heat out unless if you have the proper amount of anti-freeze.
Once it gets below a certain level and air gets in the system you will have to repair the problem, refill the system and bleed the air out of the cooling system

7000 for a 2006 Monte LTZ
I think that is a great price.....
As far as the remote start and tire pressure.... thats the same problem.....
I would be welling to guess that he has not had the update done.....
They replace the ant for the remote and replace both remotes with new ones....
I am trying to find the TSB for that.... It was mainly for the Chevy Impala's but they also covered the Montes as well.
I had to have my done twice for that problem.

if you didnt have a warranty, could you still take it to a chevy dealer and have it repaired for free?

When was this vehicle put in operation, 64,000 miles is a lot for a 2006.That is over 20,000 miles per year..He must of live in it to have that many miles. $7000.00 for a broke down car is not saving much.Coolant leaking is a bad sign. This vehicle overheated at least once and that is all it takes to have a melt down, 3.9 have aluminum heads and don't take much to distort them. No heat no coolant with that said it had to overheated.. Bad investment.. MY 02 ON THAT..

Not to get off the subject but what is the horsepower for the 06 LTZ 3.9. I am in the market for a new used Monte and I saw a black 06 LTZ with 36k miles for around 11k at a local dealer. It would be between that 06 LTZ or an 04 Intimidator Supercharged Monte with 33k for 14k (But I wouldn’t pay more than 12k for it).

I wanna say the 3.9 is 240 HP

I would def put my vote for the Intimidator model if you can swing it.

i believe its 242 hp and bout 250 lb/ft of torque...but it is variable valve timing...thinks that correct..so u get the power throughout the rpm range, just ran mine tonight through the 1/8th, bout 79 mph, didnt get a good hole shot. and the 06 3.9s in the montes didnt have DOD
