Default 2006 LT3 MC 3.9 Power Steering

Hey everybody,

I don't know if everybody knows about this, I sure didn't. Apparently there is a recall or TSB on the power steering pump/lines. I was coming back from lunch today and I lost my power steering on the MC. I called the shop and dropped it off today after work and she should be up and running tomorrow morning. I also have been having problems with my tire air pressure monitorying system and the key fob range so I asked them to look at those issues as well. Just thought I'd keep people posted!

Hey all,

Well I got the Monte back after work today. I looked at the repair slip and couldn't find any sort of Recall # or TSB # so who knows. I was going to ask the rep when I got there, but he was gone and the other techs were few and far between. They pulled the code for the service tire monitoring systemmessage (?)that was coming up in the DIC and it turned out to be a faultypressure sensor. They also said to check back with them in a week or two about the key fob issue which was find because I needed the car back for traveling this weekend. It's fixed now so I am not all that worried about it. As for the Monte, I got it three months ago with 9,000 miles on it. Now it has about 14,000. The 3.9 is a killer engine and I have no complains with it at all. Sometimes the weather gets cold here (-10 to -20 at night) during the winter. Started every morning. If you want to know anything else, just ask. I'm always browsing the forum.

Heck Yes! This is actually my second monte. My first was a 1986 Monte Carlo LS with a 305. That bad boy (why the old one is a boy, and the new one is a girl i dunno) made it through part of middle school, high school, and part of college. Not to mention two sets of dual exhaust, a manifold swap, and carb swap, head gaskets, numerous tune-ups,off-roading, setting country speed records on gravel, and almost any electronical addition known to man. Now after the '86 is long gone, i want it back.

With the key fob problem,it sounde like the receiver unit in the dash is going bad. That happened with mine at only 2500 miles. It started with the range problem, and you really had to hold the buttons long, even standing right by the car. Then they quit completely. When the dealer told me they had to tale the whole top of the dash apart to replace it,I was worried they would mess something up,but it came through fine.
