Default 2004 SS speedometer

Help! My speedometer cable (just out of warranty, $%^#) decides where home position is. At sometimes it will start at 0, sometimes at 50, sometimes at 120, it is not reliable at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on where or how to start troubleshooting this.

honestly I would call the Dealer and talk withthem abotu it they might replce it if you bitch enough considering it is a 04 and it is not to far out of warenty.

Other wise replce the cabel your self would be about the only thing you can do on it or hope tha the speedo it's self is not the issue.

I just recently had my speedometer do the same thing yours is doing. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the "Panel Cluster". That's most likely the problem.

I just snaped to this, there is not a cable other than an electrical cable. It would def be either the cluster or a PCM issue I would think as well... Zach, was your's under warranty?

it the cluster take it to the dealer and they can do a sweep test on the cluster. the cluster is all motors that run the gauges. not fix just replace. id complain, they will cover it under warranty. tell them to call the rep.

In short, I think he is saying it's an R&R item that can not be fixed with the cluster assembly....

Sounds as if it may be a known issue...
