Default 2003 Monte Shifting Question

I have a 2003 Monte Carlo SS. I am having an issue with the tranny. When I am a little aggressive in accelerating from a stop, I hear a clunk before the tranny engages. The harder I am starting, the more pronounced the clunk. If I drive like a normal person, it usually is fine.

Do you think this is a tranny issue or, as I am hoping, something easier to fix.

Thakks for your help.

Get your fluid swapped out. When you heat the trans it's slipping which means it's probably a hard part starting to go. Get Dexron 6 in there, don't request a machine flush, but definitely try new fluid first.
