Info: 2003 Monte Carlo SS interior done light
Hey, I just bought this car about 5 months ago running great but ever since I got it my dome light won't turn on I've tried the manual lighting and my gauges will dim and get brighter but my dome light will not turn on. The fuse is fine also. What can I do to get it working?
For whatever it's worth, my dome, mirror and floor lamps are occasionally not coming on. (03 SS) I am having other Security warning / Passlock/Body Control Module issues too, erratically. So FYI,while messing around for diagnosis, I have found that when the courtesy lights don't illuminate after opening a door, if I remove the Clstr/BCM 10 amp fuse on the left panel, and plug it back in, the cluster area makes a reset sound, and the interior lights all come back on.
So far, that seems to reset the Security/BCM status to be able to start normally too. But only after the dome light stays off after opening a door. There are other scenarios that are different.
I offer this for info...all I am doing is unplugging and replugging that same (good) fuse, to wake up my dome/courtesy circuit.

Well those should all be on the same fuse and they should all come on when you open the door (courtesy circuit). As you referred to. Are the rubber boots on the switches in the door jams damaged? Or have you messed with them at all? Tried pushing them in and out a few times and giggling them lightly?Never hurts to spray some contact cleaner. I'm not sure if these switch's are tied to the security system( I think they are). But they could be part of the courtesy circuit problem. By "reset sound" do you mean like a relay clicking? (Weird no start could be a dieing relay effecting the security system) Check your grounds, battery voltage and alt charging voltage? Check for codes? Aftermarket stereo(maybe a lose wire or tape. bad BCM stereo interface)? Just trying to think about quick checks you can do to eliminate possibilities. I find myself forgetting to check simple things. I can't count the times something weird ended up being a ground issue. And i meant no offense by my first post.
