Default 2002 Monte Carlo Surging under power, backfiring and stalling at speed

I own a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo and lately have been having an issue where the car will backfire and stall under speed.

The car was doing great until about 2 months ago when it started to surge uncontrollably. The RPM gauge dances all over the place, the check engine light comes on, the engine oil light flashes like the car reset itself, and it eventually stalls. This happens mainly on the highway at high speeds and RPM's, and the only way I can get it under control is to either floor the gas in neutral, or let it coast and level itself out.

It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago when the car started actually backfiring along with everything else. Every time I get on the gas the car surges, and does it at low speeds and low RPM's now, though up to 40 MPH the car is fine.

I drive an hour to work every day, and this is my only vehicle. I have no chance to get a new car, so I'm hoping this is a simple fix. I've heard of MAF's messing up, as well as cam sensors. It sounds like the motor is out of time, but it will start just fine and only messes up when the cars been driving for more than 10 minutes and warms up.

The only code showing is an O2 sensor code in bank 1.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
