2002 Monte Carlo ss issue
Hello I'm new to the forums and I just recently purchased a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. My issue is when I turn the car off my radio sometimes doesn't turn off. I noticed this when I got home from work the other day. I went to start the car when I got home to move it and the battery was dead. Hooked up cables and no key in the car my radio came on. I just bought a new ignition like a week before that. Do you guys think I bought a faulty ignition or is this a deeper internal problem? Some times in have to turn the key on and off 5-10 times before it turns off completely.

Hi. I just bought a 2002 last month. The radio stays on after I turn off the ignition, but this is normal. My dad had a 2000 Astro Van that has some of the same radio and overhead digital computer so I think it's normal. It might be that the car you bought just has a weak battery.

Troubleshooting often takes me back to the last thing changed. I'd try another ignition switch, if you don't have access to a Chilton's manual with wiring schematics.....

Check and possibly replace battery run down relay as well as rap relay. I can leave my car in ACC and it will eventually shut off the radio if it runs the battery too low. Rap relay should disengage when the door opens, could be stuck. What else is not functioning properly in the car?

Those things seem unrelated... gauges are usually stepper motors. Do a little research based on there behaviour. Could be rap or bat run down relays though.
