Could be evaporative emissions or EGR valve. I suggest you get your car hooked up to a Tech 2 or comparable scan tool and check engine data.

My problem is similar but it starts back up. It will die sometimes when stopped, coasting, or sitting at idle. We've changed the fuel pump, filter, cat, cps, cleaned the maf, iac, battery terminals, ground wires, and it's still happening. It's reads fine on the scanner with fuel trim and pressure. Hopefully you'll find your answer. Hope we do too the bills are racking up!

When you say "reads fine" do you mean no DTC's or are you reading "real time" data, including EVAP data and EGR? Do you ever notice a puff of smoke on start up?

Just to cross post: My mechanic just called and claims mine is forever fixed under the dumba** (his warranty). He said the new check engine light was an o2 sensor that shorted out the heater circuit.

The dying was due to a bad wire going to the alternator that had arced because it was not tight enough ( or due to the heater circuit unit not sure what he said exactly). He fixed the wire to the alternator and changed the o2 sensor. Let's see how she runs now!!

Thanks for following up Mandy.
Sounds like you have one of the few remaining honest mechanics.
Keep us posted.

Well she died again. He is honest because I'm his accountant so he wants me happy but we are all ready to beat our heads. Seems like when we fix some thing, something g else appears. This time she is hesitating and jerking before she dies. So we are going to hook her up to the scanner. No check engine lights as of now.

Sounds like an electrical/ignition problem, possibly associated with the ignition control module. Check out this article: Under the Hood: Repeated failure of ignition control module | TribLIVE
I will also add, it's important for "heat sync" lubricant to be applied under the ICM to prevent the module from overheating. I would focus on the connector.

Does this sound familiar? http://www.thechicagogarage.com/foru...ol-module.html

That doesn't seem exactly like what happened but this type of issue is different than how it acted before fixing the wire to the alternator. I had ordered an acdelco MAF so we went ahead and put it on and it's not jerking and hasn't died...yet! But I am still suspect. Sitting at idle it's still having to adjust and the rpms are moving withi my 300 rpms. Pushing the window button still dims the lights and pulls 300 rpms and makes a strange little static sound in the dash. The heated seat button no longer dims the lights or changes the rpms.
