1999 monte carlo window track
I am looking for some assistance regarding a power window track. It is the complete track that the window travels up and down on. I removed door panel and found one of the metal brackets at the bottom of this track, broke off. Will this cause the window to move and come off track? I have tried to locate a clean used one, which is impossible, everything is rusted at all the yards I have been to. The dealers want $280. for a new one.
Does anyone have any solutions ??
Thanks
Ken

I very rarely buy parts at the dealer. I would like to support them and buy original equipment parts, but they are just so damn expenvise at the dealer. Your window lift can be purchased brand new at Advance Auto for $108.99. I'm sure the other discount auto part stores have similarly priced lifts as well.

1999 Monte Carlo Z34 - same rusted window track problem
I have exactly the same problem with a rusted driver's side window track in my '99 Monte Carlo Z34. My window fell off the track, and after I took the plastic interior door panel off, the metal backbone of the track inside the lower half of the door was completely rusted and almost completely disintegrated ... all that was left was the rubber covering the window track.
I was going to look for a replacement window track at the junk yards, but now that you said they are all rusted, I will forget about doing that. My Chevy dealer quoted about $300 for a replacement window track.
When I have time, I think I will just try to fabricate some kind of U-shaped metal channel from Home Depot and somehow attach it to the existing rusted metal track.
My window does not fall off it's track if I only lower it half-way down. So if I can't fix it, then being able to lower the window half-way is better than nothing.
