I got a 1984 SS. It needs a new transmission. This one waits till 5000rpm to shift into 2nd then won't shift any further. Reverse won't work from time to time. This was my actual first car and I found it on craigslist. I'd love to get it running again so would love some input. Tools needed, instructions, etc. Completely new to the forum so if this has already been posted I apologize.

 

Most of the guys on here have the newer front wheel drive Monte Carlos. But this video might be of help. You can also check out MonteCarloSS.com ? 4th Generation Monte Carlo SS Enthusiasts as they have a forum that specializes in 1983-1988 Montes.

Hope this helps, I also have a 1987 El Camino SS but it has the overdrive transmission not the TH350 they had in 1984.
