Default broken component cant find out what it is.

There is a broken part on my 350 1975 Monte Carlo. I can't upload pics but if someone sent me they're email I could send you a picture. It's a black rubber boot type thing located on the drivers side near the headlight. Inside it is a spring and it has an air line coming off it leading to a box that has what looks like a speedometer cable going to it. One link on the box comes of the accelerator one the carburetor. If anyone can help that'd be greatly appreciated as I have had no luck myself. Thank you

Default 1975 monte carlo 350. broken part

Hi there I own a 75 Monte 350 with a broken part that I cannot identify. It is located near the drivers headlight. It is a black rubber boot with a spring inside. The rubber boot is broken. One hose off it goes to a control box that above it that has what looks like a speedometer cablea attached.Oneconnection runs to the throttle off the carburetor. I've tried to identify this part and have had no luck. I can't upload pics but if someone has an email than I could email a pic to them. Thanks

It appears to me to be the EGR valve
Check out the CarID link here -->1975 Chevy Monte Carlo Replacement Emission Control Parts at CARiD.com
Like I said in my email, I will check my Chilton's manual when I get home too.

I checked my Chilton's manual and it does appear to be the EGR valve.
