04 Monte SS Gear Shifter broke off
My sons gear shifter handle (top part with thumb button) broke off, and on the part of the gear shifter still attached to the car we can still see a white plastic piece inside the stick (i think its called the plunger?) and luckily when we push down on this it allows us the move the gear shifter for now. Probelm is we dont know exactly what piece/pieces to buy to fix this. We obviously know we need the new handle, and even found the clip you remove to replace it, but what we are confused on is what about the white plastic plunger piece that is clearly broken in half and still inside the gear shifter. Is the broken piece easily removable? If so, how? And lastely how do we replace that part? Does it come attached to the new handle we would purchase or is this a separate part we need to order? Any help would be great, I've googled these parts online and cant find them. Maybe because I'm not calling the parts by the right name. Really need to order these asap. Thank You

Any aftermarket shift handle with a button will pretty much do it for a replacement. Pilot makes some nice ones if your looking for a cheap upgrade/replacement. Plus you can get them at your local auto parts stores most the time. Also to remove the shift handle slide down the leather cover and on the front of the handle is a U clip, like a big stapple.
