Ignition wont shut all the way off alowing me to take out key. Runs and drives. How can i fix this myself i am mechanically inclined

 

Could be bad ignition cylinder (cylinder lock maybe its called)

Could be the gear shifter is not disengaging the mechanism..

Could be battery going dead but you would have other problems first (probably)..

This is all stuff I just looked up real quick and maybe a quick thing to look at while you wait for someone around here with a little more knowledge..

 

All the stuff he mentioned. I had trouble with the shifter not being all the way in park like he said... make sure that nothing is blocking it from going forward completely.
