Most of the owners manuals recommend changing fluid some where around 50 to 60K.
Check your fluid level and see what color it is, if it's brown or has never been changed get that done.
Also when you are driving the car start in the gear that is just D and not the Overdrive Drive.
They shift from drive to overdrive at around 45 mph or just a bit over so if you have alot of in town stuff driving it will shift more often and if it is in drive only it won't.
The overdrive should be for driving on the 4 lane for extended distance. Tips from a friend of mine who is a driving instructor at a Pro-driver school.
Assuming the thing has been properly maintained, its probably time for a rebuild (fluid is good, correct level, filter is clean, etc).
When you go to take off after coming to a stop, does it rev (almost like its in neutral) and then suddenly catch and go like it was slammed into gear? Or possibly the same situation but with a jerk/stutter as it starts to move?
If so, thats a very common 4t65 problem related to the seal on the input clutch apply piston. The seal is allowing fluid past which doesn't allow the car to move. Once the engine gains some rpm (which increase the transmission fluid pump rpm / fluid volume), theres suddenly enough pressure to overcome the leak and force forward motion (often rather violently, especially if you've applied a lot more throttle trying to get it to move).

That's exactly what it's doing
