6th Gen ('00-'05): 00 SS radio static after battery disconnected to replace faulty coolant level sensor
I recently took my car to my car guy who to have a coolant sensor replaced. After getting my car back and the faulty coolant sensor issue was resolved, I now have an issues with my radio. My guy said he just had to disconnect the battery to get to the coolant sensor. After replacing the sensor, I noticed my clock time was off on the radio. I turned on my music and it played normal for about 30 seconds.
First it started to turn the volume all the way down and it eventually would turn itself back up but not to full volume.
I called my guy who said he thought it may be the Auto Volume feature needing to be shut off on the radio. He turned this setting to "off" and told me to drive the car for the weekend to see if the PCM would reset itself to re-learn this programming.
For the next few days the radio volume would continue to go up and down sporadically on its own.
After 3 days this issue seems to have resolved itself. However, a new issue has started.
When I open the door and before I even put in the key, I hear the left door speaker turn on and there is static. I understand this is to work the door chime and other alert notification sounds. However, the static is quite annoying as it has crackling sounds and popping noises. When I turn on the car and drive I still hear the static until I turn on the radio and play some music.
My car guy said he was going to look into it for me but he tends to get side tracked and is very hard to get a hold of. It is just strange that this all happened while having the car at his shop to have to coolant sensor replaced.
Anyone have any ideas? I would suspect it would have been caused by disconnecting the battery but yet again, maybe its coincidental and it may be my amp going bad? Please help me get rid of the poltergeist haunting my Pace Car edition.
Thanks again!
