I'm looking to gauge interest in a meet around here. I was thinking either at Bear Mountain State Park or at the High point memorial in New Jersey. Also open to any other places, looking for something kind of in the middle between upstate NY members and NYC/long island members.

Here are the plans. Meeting location will be off exit 1 of I-84 for Port Jervis/Sussex, in the Shoprite Parking Lot at 1pm. If you're coming from the west, take exit 1 off I84 and make a left at the stop sign and Shoprite will be just up the road. If you're coming from the east, take the exit 1 off I84, make a left at the stop sign and then a left at the first traffic light. The parking lot will be just down the road. From there we will head up to the park.

The only downside about going June 1st is there is an admission fee which is charged from memorial day to labor day. Weekends/holidays are $20 per vehicle for non NJ residents, $10 if you are an NJ resident. But I think it'll be worth the money. The meet time right now is 1pm, might change by an hour or so, will let you all know as it gets closer.

I believe the Staten Island gto, g8 guys go up to bear park. Not sure how many monte guys are in the area. I know Joe usually goes

 

Bumping this, planning for a meet and greet kind of thing June 1st, i'll add more details tomorrow.

 

Just remembered I'll have class Saturday mornings by June, so either we'd have to do a Saturday afternoon meet or a sunday one. Have to see what would work better. I'm thinking we will meet up in the bear mountain area and we can go up to Perkins Memorial Drive which has nice views of the river for some pictures. My main idea with this meet is to get people from upstate as well as people from NYC and long island, or anywhere else around here.

 

hell i might shine the monte up and try to make that. of course i'd prefer to go to high point, what with that being right up the road for me, and not knowing how the monte'll handle a long trip after sitting as long as it has. but bear mountian is still close enough to work for me.

 

Location is still up in the air. Doesn't matter much to me, waiting to see if Devin has a preference or not.

 

i hear ya man. like i said high point would be great for me, mostly because i'm afraid the monte wouldin't make it all the way to bear mountian... but it survived a couple months doing a longer commute with my dad just fine, so it should be ok

 

Well I talked with Devin, he said either location would be good. So why don't we change it to High Point then to make it a bit better for you. I'll update the meeting location in the first post.

 

cool man, i appreciate it! i've actually never been to high point, always just look at the big tower from the Kmart parking lot up in town, so it ought to be cool!

 

Updated the first post. I actually see high point from a lot of spots around where I live. I was there last year, nice place.
