I did get a response from the event manager regarding 'featured vehicles': Featured vehicles have to be in the building by 5PM THURSDAY (25th – setup day). Vehicles can be removed from the building between 7-9PM SATURDAY (27th) or, if not removed Saturday, they can be removed beginning at 9AM SUNDAY (28th).
Regarding photos for the 'featured vehicle' application, the application form at the top says at least three photos are required: interior (1), engine (2) and front 3/4 with hood/trunk down (3). On the 'photo submission guidelines' page it says the following photos are required: front 3/4 and rear 3/4 from each side (1-4), front of car (5), rear of car (6), engine (7), interior (8) and trunk (9). File size cannot exceed 5MB per photo.
My opinion for the crew coming from Michigan (and other far distances), if you feel the trip is a big long (maybe more than 5 hours), I would plan to leave Thursday. Keeps it easy, casual and avoids feeling "rushed". This way, even if you arrive at 11:30pm Thursday, you have not missed anything. This gives you a chance to check out Friday at Carlisle for yourself. If this ends up being the only time you go to Carlisle, then you know you did it all. But if you find you want to do it again next year, you now know what to expect and can adjust your plans accordingly.
Not trying to "butt" into your conversation but I was at Carlisle in 2019 for a non-GM show and wanted to share some details that we loved from our trip. We arrived a couple days early and spent the first couple days at Gettysburg. We really enjoyed touring around Gettysburg's battlefields. Wifey got to do her ghost tour and even arranged a tour on horseback. (Wifey and daughter are National Riding Champion so this was extra special for them.) The view from horseback far exceed what you will see from the other tours as it comes in through the woods just like the soldiers would have during the actual battle.
From there it is a very short hop to Carlisle where we had a fantastic time. This event was second only to the Legend Lives RT66 trip, put on by Hoondog Performance Group. That was a trip across country following old RT66 and ending at the "Friends of McQueen Car Show" in California.
Just my 2cents worth (worth less than a penny these days).
No problem butting in. After all, it's an open conversation
You described just one of many ways to enjoy the trip, thanks for sharing what your family did. Any plans to make it to the Chevrolet Nationals this year?
Not this year. I have my retirement planned for June 1st of this year and with all the activities around this this (will be relocating from Raleigh, NC area to Kannapolis (Charlotte), area) will keep me tied up this year. Will start planning for 2021 later in the year. Will give me a chance to get the Monte Carlo up to an acceptable level.

Hi, well wanted to stop in and say whats up. Looks like I will be making the cross country trip back to Carlisle this year. My Monte has been accepted for the 50th anniversary of the Monte you all have been talking about. It will be on display in Building T. Going to trailer it out this time, hope the weather isn't sketchy like before, snow in Colorado, Tornadoes and severe weather events (hail etc.) Looking forward to seeing you Carlisle regulars plus any newcomers from the forum there. Sorry I have been such a flake lately, life is crazy at best, some times just life.
Greg/Zippy02!!! Been a day or two since we have seen you! And you come delivering some awesome news. Congrats!!! That is awesome stuff. It will be great to see you again at Carlisle!

Greg, that's awesome! I'll be there regardless of if my car gets picked for the featured display or not. It'll be nice to meet you and some others in person.
So far 3 Montes have been selected for the 'featured vehicle display'.
