This was the final car show put on by Onsted Kiwanis Show Car Nationals. This was the 15th year for the car show being held on the infield of MIS (Michigan International Speedway) and the last time for this show. Vehicles entered in the the show had the opportunity to drive on the track for 3 laps. Simple rules... 1. No Passing.... 2. Speed Limit of 70 mph. Yeahhhh I broke both rules and hit a top speed at one point of a click over 100 mph.

I was in attendance with the Michigan Monte Carlo Club (MMCC). The following club members attended this show: Matt, Matt (from Canada) Tadd, Dave and myself.

Wow, what a neat opportunity to have, the final farewell event at this track. Looks like it was heavily attended, many many very nice cars present from the pictures you presented.

Sometimes I think they need a car show that is from say 1980 and newer. It's always so old to see the 57 chevy, 68 camaro, 32 Ford always always always getting the awards. You can go to any car show any place and they will always be there. Getting a little stale, I tend to just walk right by them anymore.

I'm jealous you were able to run on the track, what a moment to have had with your Monte. Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them with us.

 

Nice stuff Casey! Man all I can remember is looking in the rear view mirror in one of the turns and seeing the front of your car right up by the wall coming quick. I thought you were going to pass and keep going.

Greg, I agree. I have to mention though, there was one family with (I believe) 9 cars at this show and they won 5 of the "top 100" awards. So, now they have 5 of the EXACT same award and honestly what are they going to do with 5 of them? Seems obnoxious and it seemed that way when the same person came up 5 times to receive them and the announcers were joking about it - I was put off by it. I mean, shows are all about the experience and interaction with other car people but it would have been nice to see 4 of those awards go to other deserving participants.
