A few Carshow photo's from 2024 I have a concern too?!
Okay been to a few Carshows this summer and for some reason the Awards have been a little less than I thought they should be. So I think I have narrowed the problem down. I have competitors that will be in my class but they really don't belong there. But they have figured that they can compete better.
Let me explain. 1 guy has a special edition Firebird some some decals on it and a fancy painted engine cover. doesn't have the normal 3 mods that should be in a Modified class.
Another guy has a Corvette and should be in the Corvette class and will be in my class.
The last one had a Camaro with no mods except some stickers under the hood.
None of these have more than 1 mod maybe 2.
So I need to find a different class to be in or quit Carshows all together.
my display I brought a few trophies along so the judges would see that I had won some shows.

Being a bit car show class ignorant - what are the normal 3 mods for a modified class?

TBH I'm surprised you're able to win trophies at all. Nothing against your car, it's beautiful, I just always ran into a lot of hate at these old school style shows for anything FWD much less a historical name plate like a monte carlo being FWD.
We of course also had the tuner style shows with a far larger FWD representation, but then they seemed to have a general hate for anything American. So I never found any actual trophy award style shows around me where I fit in enough to win anything.
At the few shows I did attend before I gave it up, I saw a lot of the stuff you mentioned- people class hopping because their target class was too full. Also saw a lot of judge favoritism (judges hanging around a lot with the owner of a specific car before / during / after judging and magically they win 1st place in their class).
Frankly the subjectivity really turned me off to the whole thing. I think thats why I leaned a lot more into sound competitions back when I was into shows - at least that had an objective way to win without bias.

A Modification on a vehicle would be different Wheels, Custom Paint, Body kit/ ground effects. There is no typical or standard for a Modification.
I have seen some with fully custom Upholstered Trunks and sound systems, Custom Painted, Custom Interiors, The wheels, Bagged suspension, Chromed out engine bays.

I am not sure that they look at the RWD or FWD . I don't think the MC should be in with Pony Cars like Stangs, Birds and Camaros. or Vettes, they always seem to have a better paint condition than I do. But the judging sheet never asks about the Mods, and they should. The judges for these things I bet they know very little about the Cars at all. I remember one time I was in Iowa at a Carshow and I was doing my Dale E. show. They asked me if I would Judge a couple of the classes.
I was talking with the car owners and one had an Old Studebaker. I made a couple of comments and he said to me you really know your Cars! One of my favorite subjects. I think I was able to give a very unbiased evaluation.
