Default Pop ups or virus/

Hello all. When I log in at home and try to cruise the MCF I get tons of pop ups and adds embedded in the site. I do not see these at work, since work has a huge IS dept. and good antivirus and junk? Most of the adds are from "Buyfast" and "lowrate". Are these true advertisers on the site or are they from some junk on my old Vista laptop? How do I fix this if it is on my end?

I use avg free on my laptops at the house and run a virus scan every week and update regularly, so far no problems

My guess is the ads are not caused by MCF, but other stuff on your computer. I have nothing weird popping up on my computers I access MCF from.

I have adblock plus so IDK if MCF does have ads on their forum, however I do know if you have popups, you have malware on your computer. Don't worry, just because your computer is "old" doesn't mean it's going to stop working, you just need to reinstall your windows version. Your computer should have came with a recovery CD/DVD or you can access the recovery portion of your hard drive and do a clean wipe/install. Just remember to back up your data before doing this.

Also, I recommend Avast Antivirus to go with AdBlock Plus.

Adblock Plus is awesome.

OP, you at least have adware and browser extensions causing the pop ups. Reset your browser, disable/erase add ons and go through the installed Programs - to uninstall obvious crap. ScOrPiOnSaVvr and things of the sort gotta go.

The only thing I get is the occasional ad popping up when I roll my mouse over one of the paid ads. Some of them turn the screen dark, and the full size ad appears in the center of the screen. If I avoid mousing over the ads, I don't get them. But it's usually only one ad. Not a whole bunch.

I had this problem for a while with Firefox. I know what I did was I went into add-ons and deleted everything that didn't look familiar. And then I installed an ad blocker for good measure. It seemed to do the trick
