Maybe because every single part in the HVAC system between the two systems are different. One uses aspirators, one doesn't. One uses high speed LAN, one doesn't. One use an infinitely variable resistor, one doesn't. ETC.

Yes, it does require a TechII to program the radio to the car.

FWIW, very few factory GM radios are interchangeable. They make look the same or even plug in, but don't expect them to work properly. Definately not a TB SS one.

if you say so.

the HVAC control unit is just controlling it, I don't see how it would be difficult to program it or modify it to work.

I agree, I accidentally tried a Trailblazer MP3 radio in my Monte (to then learn GM had TWO different radios that looked identical). The TrailBlazer radio could not be seen by a TechII. After a LOT of research, appears the "cars" had one wiring and data bus interface and the "trucks" had a different one (but used the same connector).

But I do know the MP3 radio I have was never offered in the '00-'05 Monte and works perfect (after programming with a TechII) in my '04 Monte. I plan to pop one in my wife's '05 Impala (as it shares the same wiring as my Monte and "should" work).

Sorry, I think my radio talk has dragged a little off topic

Okay, calm down people. Relax. Take a deep breath.
If you're convinced something will work even though people are telling you it won't, then go ahead and give it a try yourself. But don't be surprised if/when it doesn't work.
