Welcome Chris. Congrats on your purchase.
I know you said you're going with the factory 6 CD system.Definitely a better choice.
I think you should know before your purchase a new stereo, the audible warnings/chimes and OnStar use the factory sound system. So if you decide to go with an aftermarket system, you'll most likely lose your chimes and such.

I think you'd have to replace the wheel also. Check the junk yards and the internet, who knows, you may get lucky and find a steering wheel with controls off of a wrecked '06 or '07. They'd be rare, and you'd most likely have to transplant the airbag from yours, but it'd be cheaper than the dealer.

I beleive you have to replace the whole dash wiring harness to get steering wheel controls. I don't think it is a seperate harness or it doesn't seem that way when you look at it.

hey, well, with the stock harness, I think it would if its a GM issued deck for our cars. I got my car used, so I couldnt chose what options are on it. If your going with a different deck (clarion, pioneer, ect) then, you will need the correct harness. if anything, go talk to a car audio shop by you, they should be able to tell you right away if itll work with your stock harness or not.

If your putting in the 6 disk factory stereo in place of the single disk factory stereo, the connector should fit without a problem providing you're putting in stereo from the same generation GM vehicle.
