Default Stock Am/FM/CD/Tape System in '04 Monte +

Is there anyone who keeps the Stock Music Machine. I don't really need to start pulling my dash apart and adding woof's and tweak's ... I'm wondering is anybody is satisfied with what GM sends along in the Monte ... or,

Is it just another box that will play tunes and be of limited performance?

Mine's stock and I'm happy with it, but then I'm not into the loud thumping sound like my son likes.

I have the stock box in there still but my Monte bumps too. I've replaced all the interior speakers and added a pair of 12's in a ported box. My interior speakers are Rainbow components up front and Polk Audio EX II 6x9's out back. This is ok for now, but I have a completely new system in my closet right now waiting to get installed but i'm not gonna do so until I get enough money to get my AvantGarde 5 alarm from Clifford. Then I'll have a real system consisting of:

Head Unit Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS
Door speakers CDT Audio CL-61A-25 PRO
Subs
Image Dynamics ID12D2 V.3 12”
Mids/Highs amp
Soundstream TRA960.4
Subs amp
Soundstream PCA1000D
Interconnects/Misc accessories
Flush Mount head unit install kit, JL Audio XA-PCS2-2 2ga dual amp install kit, KnuKonceptz KarmaKable 4ch rca's, 17ft KnuKonceptz KarmaKable 2ch rca's, PAC C2RGM24 Class II Data interface harness, Pioneer CB-IB100 II iPod interface
Sub box
Subzone Z-Series ZV212-2030 Dual 12" vented box

Actually, the iPod interface is up for sale since I no longer have one, I've made the jump to a Microsoft Zune and i'm loving it. No need for an interface box since my deck has an aux jack on the faceplate. Make me an offer I can't refuse.

I like my Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS with my JL Audio amp and 12", and Pioneer replacement speakers. There is no substitute for power, especially a low volumes. I thought my Impala had better sound than the Montes. The factory speakers are junk. The factory deck is OK, but that's about it, IMO.

I kept the stock hu but added infiity 6.5 door components ran new wire to trunck. 6x9 infinity kappas in rear deck new wire. tapped into signal right before the fact. amp and hooked the fronts to a 100 watt per chnl. blaupunkt. rear hooked up to a seperate 100 watt blau. the sound is 100 times better than stock and will really thump if played loud. no distortion at any volume.I also have a sirius sportster hooked into a cd interface.sound is 100 times better than an fm modulator. took about 3 hours to insall every thing.

Stock system is just fine with me. As for the amp Thunderbolt hit the nail on the head.

it's installed underneath the rear deck and it's supposedly a 200 watt amp, but keep in mind this is at 2ohms and that's the max power, so rms is more like 100 watts, or 25 per speaker.

When you install an aftermarket sound system ... what does it do to accessing the "Menu Features" that control the various functions of the remote and timed functions of the Entry System, door lock options and Beeps and Chirps of the Key Fob and its program recognition? Oil Life Monitoring reset; too?
