Default Steering Wheel Buttons - Source Needed

Hi everybody

I'm new to this site and to Monte Carlos. I've just purchase a 2001. So far I love it except that the guy that had it before me broke the volume buttons on the steering wheel. Now there is a piece rattling around inside the wheel everytime I make a turn. I found a great article on here on how to remove the buttons.

Where do I get new button assemblies? I searched ebay and few parts websites and haven't found anything. While i'm in there are there cool aftermarket buttons that can be swapped in?

Thanks!

Joe

I sent them a few emails, but no response. Any other sources? What would a dealer want for them? Would they carry it?

the dealer should be able to get sum for you for an arm and your big toe.

call scrap yards, or there might be a set on gmpartsdirect.com

goodluck with your search

Check gmpartsdirect.com They show Radio/cruise right MSRP:64.75 Their price:38.38. Radio cruise left MSRP:82.65 Their price:42.97. So yeah the dealer should be able to get them for you. Sorry have no part #s

If you go this route do tell how it went, the paint on mine is all but gone and been debating if it's worth 81.35 + S&H to change them out.

not sure what the stores name is, but if you seach this site youll find um. they can take the lights and switch them to whatever color you want.

they do it for factory radios. im sure they could do it to your buttons. but you have to send them in. they might even have a set who knows.

also the customer service at gmpartsdirect.com is top notch. i asked a ? and they got back to me in 1 day i think, with a part number and an explaination.

i think that 50 bucks give or take is a good deal for that part.

bbengineer.com is the site you mean I think.

I can't stand gmpartsdirect personally. I tried to buy an exhaust system through them, and after 31 days they didn't even have the part in stock yet and wouldn't return any of my emails. Finally I found their office number and called a manager and got my order cancelled.

GMPartsDirect is just a dealership (Flow Chevrolet) so I would get a part # from them, and then just go to your local dealer for the parts.

your best bet is go to junkyard and find a steering wheel without an air bag and buy it. you can usually find an airbagless one for way cheaper than the price of the buttons.
