Default speaker grilles

On my 04 MC SS, I'm looking to replace the 6x9 rear speakers and get aftermarket ones, I was wondering if I needed to put the stock speaker grilles that are already there, or let the sub/tweeter's be exposed. I'm asking because both of my speaker grilles are cracked, wanted to get some input on what other people have done with their MC's sound system.

Same question as above for the 6.5'' in the front on the doors, have to keep the stock speaker grilles or are they replaceable?

Agreed on the fronts, and ditto on the rears unless you're good with fiberglass. But the rear grilles are not impossible to replace, and should be easy to find. But the speakers themselves are recessed, so it would be a pita to replace everything, but NOT impossible.

I'd be interested in seeing what others have in that area. I know 01-on-air has custom door panels, but I think he removed his rear seat, speakers, and everything else to put that HUGE speaker box where the back of his car used to be

Replacing the grills with aftermarket ones would be hard to make look good. I'd find a set of factory replacements. Shouldn't be hard to replace. And the rear speakers aren't hard to do either. You have to remove the rear deck cover and then you just undo the plastic clips and pull them out.

here was the speakers I was going to get, noticed how they come with their own speaker grilles, basically why I asked in the first place, because my rear grilles are now both cracked......

Yeah, they come with the grills for mostly for custom applications or for mounting them in a box where you wouldn't have any protection for them. There are definitely cars where using the aftermarket grills on the rear deck works and looks good though, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't fit right in the rear deck of a Monte.

I tried to install the grills that came with my infinity 6x9 kappa's and it looked like crap. so I went to my local gm dealer and got new factory grills for about $8 bucks apiece. there was no difference in sound quality so I think stock would look better.
