Question Shift ****

So my 2005 Monte Carlo SS is automatic and I am assuming all of the models are. But the **** is faded and feels cheap and worn out. I was wondering if I could possibly replace the shift **** with a universal aftermarket one. I am sure that I would be able to but the **** requires you to press in a button before moving the car into gear. Would a universal one just bypass that without problems or would I need to find one that fits specifically to the car. Links to video tutorials and shifts ***** that would work would be very helpful. I am only 18 and I am trying to figure this car out haha. Thank you for any responses!

Yea there are plenty of options for auto shifters. Just get an aftermarket specifically for autos.

Should be the same as this...

EDIT: Lol I have to say, this is not my video or my car.

OK thanks, I saw that video but I think he just replaced his factory **** with a OEM ****? I am wanting one where you dont have to press the button to shift. Would that be possible you think?

Firstly, I suggest against that. I did that long ago with my first car (ford contour) and many times knocked it into reverse or 2nd and 1st. Dont know how it didnt kill the trans the first time it happened. 2nd and 1st wasnt an issue, the computer stopped it from changing. Reverse, the car would just shut off. No idea what would happen with these cars tho. Wont be good no matter what.

Now, its possible with a little rigging. The main issue with this is you wont be able to remove the key with the button permanently depressed.

There are ***** where the entire **** IS the button. You put downward pressure on the **** and that acts as pressing the button.

Pretty much the same **** that we have stock, but much nicer.
