Default Removing Factory Amp? 6th Gen

I tried searching on here without much luck.

2002 Ls with the factory amp which I want to remove. You guys with upgraded systems, are y'all removing the amps or keeping them? If so, what needs to be done to keep everything running correctly without the amp in there?

I think I'm looking right over the answer so checking for assurance.

Are you planning on replacing the speakers too? If not I wouldn't bother touching the amp as long as it works fine..

To be specific,

I'm asking, is there any need for the factory amp if I'm replacing everything with aftermarket gear?

Like is there any functions of the car that are tied into the factory amp that I will lose if I remove it?

Nope, no extra functions for the amp. You can just unbolt and remove in that case. I know people buy them occasionally when theirs die.

That's what I plan to do, thanks.

So, I should just unplug and unbolt and I'll be fine? I see the trunk light Is tied into that plug, so I should maybe hide the plug somewhere in the rear deck as it is right?

Just double checking

if you do aftermarket amps with the headunit there won't even be a signal sent back anywhere near where the amp is.

have you worked on stereos before?
