Just ran the power wire for the upcoming woofer install. Is there any way i can splice the remote wire off of one of the wires in the trunk going to the factory amp?

 

That would probably work, Just look around the wires coming out of the amp for a blue wire and try it

 

you could run it off of a light or something that turns on with the car like the cigarette lighter.

 

I bought a Metra kit that plugs into the factory head unit harness and provides both a switched and constant power source. Much better than tapping in anywhere!

 

Dont use the cigarette lighter. Its constantly powered. Your amp wouldnt ever turn off. If you have a test light you can easily determine a good power source for the amp turn on. Honestly, I would run it to behind the stereo just in case sometime in the future you decide to go with an aftermarket stereo, it will be right there and you can just tap right into the new harness. Use the ignition power wire going to the back of the stereo. I believe the red wire is ignition source, yellow is constant and orange is illumination.

 

my cigarette lighter always shuts off, along with the one in the rear. you could always do a toggle switch also/

 

Hmm, mine always works with the car on or off.

 

my gps always says power lost like when at a gas station, but i would test it first just in case. it could be a different models work differently type of thing

But I would try and get the remote hooked up to the red ignition wire near the HU too. that way if you do aftermarket its already there as someone stated already...
