Also, IDK about IL, but i've been pulled over with it in the window, and still gotten out of tickets. The cops around here don't seem to care. Its not like its illegal. And if I actually see a cop, or have the time without being obvious, I take it down just so I don't irritate the cops. LOL

As for theives, I take mine out of the window everytime I get out of the car, so they can't see it. The suction cup bracket has a quick release on and off thing. So you just leave the suction cups in the window, and remove the detector takes all of 3 seconds to install/ remove it. LITERALLY.

Usually you can find MaMonte's for around $200 on sale.
I agree, no sense in getting one that doesnt work worth a crap...

And you probably can find mine for about $200-250 now days. I first got mine in 2005 when the 8500 was newer to the market, so it was much more expensive.

i wired mine to a switch and before the line got the the battery i put and inline fuse, theyre not like gps where they get converted to 6V (i think) so they can connect directly, and you dont need a fancy radar detector, mines cheaper than what you got and it works just as good as anything else around here

I mount mine kind of in the middle of the windshield, favoring the drivers side a bit, about 3 inches up from the dash. I just use the suction cup bracket provided with the radar detector.

And I plug it into the cigarette lighter.
I see. Thanks. You can actually get one on ebay, directly from Escort, refurbished, for $150 with a warranty. I might go this route down the road. I don't know... I'm driving through the state of IN Friday and I was looking for a quick solution, besides slowing down. lol

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I'ma cheap skate! I already opened it, but I guess I can see if Meijer will take it back. If not, no big deal, I'll sell it on eBay.

Any tips on my situation with the current RD I have? Thanks every one.
it has a second remote sensor that you mount at the back window or facing off the wind shield to the back of the car (this is where i have mine top of wind shield facing back up on the tinted part so you cant See it form the out side but you get a clear shot out the back window /side windows)
cobra does make there own remote unit but the reviews were better on the Whistler so that is why I got it

Yeah. I saw the Cobra one too. Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm still wondering about mounting and what not. I'm sure I'll figure something out. Maybe temporary for my Friday trip and more permanent when I get back home.

Also, keep in mind that radar detectors are really only good for good for getting around cops that leave their radar turned on. It is a common practice for officers to park around a corner or somewhere else where drivers can't see them until it is too late, with the radar turned off until they actually see a speeding vehicle, and then turn it on to get a precise speed, all before the vehicle can slow down. The detector can't do anything to help you in this situation.

I know because I catch speeders this way on a daily basis. Not trying to talk you out of getting a detector, just providing some food for thought.
