I read somewhere in my manual that the Premium system has 8 speakers conpared to my 6, I was just wondering where the other two were located, as I might add some speakers there... I've got the 6x9s in the rear deack and I'm guessing that the other four are all in the front door panels. It would be great if you guys also know the sizes of the other speakers, mine are going bad, too much loud music for 'em.

 

I believe that out of the 4 speakers, each one is a 2-way....thus 8 speakers.

 

On a 6-way system, 2 of the 4 speakers are 2-ways.

 

X2 on that. 1 in each door and the 2 rear speakers.

 

Hmm 6.5" in the doors and 6x9 in the rears.. If im right.. Anyone else know?

 

The doors have 2 speakers each, at least in the'00-'05 Monte's. a 6 1/2 and a 1 1/4 or so tweeter, also. I believe the 8 speakers have 2-way 6x9's,
I have 3-way 6x9's, 4-way 6 1/2's, factory tweeters, and a 12" in the trunk. 17 speakers!

Okay, I guess I didn't realize that they would count multi-way speakers as several speakers. But that does clear up some confusion, anyone else happen to know what size the front speakers are, mine are just about shot...

 

I beleive they are 6.5's
